Qatar University’s Professor of International Law and Investment Law, Dr Nasser al-Adba at QU’s College of Law, is elected as president of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) – Qatar Branch. The CIArb is the world’s leading qualifications and professional body for dispute avoidance and dispute management, founded in 1915 and awarded a royal charter by Queen Elizabeth in 1979, a QU statement. The CIArb is passionate about promoting a harmonious society and helping people and organisations avoid, manage and resolve conflict through its global network of over 17,000 members.
Dr al-Adba said: “Qatar is at the forefront of countries’ awareness of the importance of an alternative dispute resolution solution in resolving disputes, especially in trade matters.”
He explained that Qatar had enacted Arbitration Law No. 2 of 2017 and the Mediation Law No. 20 of 2021, which is an excellent advancement on its way to being a hub for business activities in the region.
